My Mountain Home

Every time I go to my cabin, I feel like I take pictures of the same things over and over. So this last trip I took- I made it a goal to be creative, to capture the little things, to come home with something new. I think I did a pretty great job, too! It was so refreshing to look at things differently, to push myself, and to feed that inner wanna-be photographer.

In the photo above and a few down below, I tried what's called "free lensing". I learned about it from

Daryl

, who is a fantastic photographer. It is SO not as easy as it looks, but I'm very pleased with the few images I did get!

There's something about a pinecone that is so beautiful. I wish I had gathered a bunch to bring home.

This is the mine that my great great grandfather built. This is why we own this land, because he bought it to mine on. Not that he found anything, but this mine has provided the natural spring that powers our electricity, plumbing, and provides the PUREST water known to man. The entrance to the mine is barred shut, since it is our drinking water, we don't want it to get contaminated. So it's rare that we can see this deep inside. I was so proud of myself for capturing this photo!

This is at the top of our property. With the moon in that clear blue sky it almost looks as though it's not of this world.

I have such a strong desire to climb these rugged, rocky, peaks! It'll have to wait until spring, at least. But one day, I will.

I have always loved my mountain home, but now, after pushing myself to see more than before- I am completely smitten. The beauty lies in the tiniest of details, all combining to make one grand picture. How lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world.

P.S. the winner of the eShakti giveaway is...
