From Me To You
I love receiving Christmas cards from friends, but being single, it doesn't make sense for me to send anything out. So that photo is as good as it's going to get from me. I just wanted to wish everyone a VERY Merry Christmas.
I have been a bit of a Scrooge, lately. I love Christmas, it's my favorite holiday, but this year, I haven't been feeling that Christmas Spirit... While out shopping for presents I realized that I can't really stand what Christmas has become. I love giving gifts, and who doesn't love receiving them? But it's become a competition of who can give or get the "most wanted" items of the year. Soon Thanksgiving will be known as "The 30th day of Christmas" and that song will go on forever. So I was determined to only buy extremely thoughtful gifts this year. I had been to stores multiple times looking for things to gift, but always left empty handed. Nothing felt personal. So I sat down and thought about who I was buying for. What would they really want? What could they receive that would be a reflection of myself? I must say, the looks on the faces or the "thank yous" I've already received have been completely worth it! Something personal and from the heart means so much more than that new video game console... or whatever it was that people were hustling for.
During all of this gift giving I've been thinking about the greatest and most personal gift that was ever given... If there's anything that can really put me in the Christmas Spirit, it's thinking about my Savior. That is what Christmas is truly lacking in this day and age. The reason we even have this holiday feels completely lost! Without our Savior- there would be no Christmas.
He was sent to Earth to provide the world with the most thoughtful gift anyone could ever give- His sacrifice for us. The greatest act of love to ever happen was done for you. If you find yourself like me, a Scrooge this Christmas season- really think about the reason for the season. If you find yourself without presents under the tree- remember that you have already received something priceless. If you find yourself without someone to love this year- remember that HE will always love and be there for you, you are never alone.
Merry CHRISTmas, everyone.
