Rip Van Winkle
There is a story about a man named Rip Van Winkle who slept for 20 years. He had met some strange men in a forest who offered him a drink, he partook of it and when he awoke, his gun had rusted, his dog was gone, and everything in the village where he lived had changed. And yet, it was still the town he knew.
I have been having a bit of "Rip Van Winkle Syndrome" lately... Ever since traveling back to Utah. My mind is so confused and I'm having a hard time focusing. It feels as though the last six months in Maryland have been a dream and nothing more. I just took a really long nap and woke up to find things in Utah completely different and yet, somehow just the same... My best friend is now married, other friends have moved to or from Utah, and my brain keeps trying to convince me that I have actually traveled back in time to this time, last year. It's all very confusing.
But I am going back to Maryland tomorrow, and things might start to feel more real again. I think it's just been such a whirlwind since I arrived in Utah. I have been going non-stop with photo shoots, wedding things, seeing people, makeup appointments, and trying to do all of the things I want to do. It makes me sad to be going back to Maryland, just because being in Utah feels so normal, but I love it there and have completely enjoyed the experiences I've had... So it's just bittersweet.
I am still not exactly sure what is real and what has been a dream... Someone pinch me, please.
Have you ever experienced this or am I not making any sense, at all?
