Smoothie Bowl Recipe For Healthy Skin
It's funny how we refer to November and December as the holiday season, when the holidays seem to never end. There's always some other upcoming holiday, tempting me with sugary sweets and comfort foods. If you're anything like me, your skin is probably showing the effects of your eating habits with uncharacteristic breakouts, a dull complexion, dark circles, dry patches, etc. Add on harsh winter weather and the changing of the seasons, and you've got a recipe for less than luminous and/or sensitive skin. So what can we do to make sure our skin keeps its Summer glow all year long? We can give our body the nutrients it needs from the inside out. This means feeding your body things that are rich in antioxidants, fiber, good fats, a variety of vitamins and minerals, as well as being sure you're drinking enough water. Another great way is by taking helpful supplements like Turmeric, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, and Lysine to make sure your body is receiving the nutrients it needs.
Eating a balanced diet, packed with fruits and vegetables, is vital for healthy skin. I understand how hard it can be to get your daily dose of greens, so to make it easier, I came up with this simple and delicious Green Smoothie Bowl recipe that you can make at home. It's jam-packed with things that will make you glow from the inside out and makes a great meal - anytime of day!
To make this Antioxidant Smoothie Bowl, you will need:
1 cup Spinach
1 small Banana
1/2 cup Strawberries
1/2 cup Blueberries
1/2 an Avocado
1/2 cup Almond Milk (add more as needed)
1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt
1 tbsp 60%+ Cacao/Dark Chocolate Shavings
1 small handful of Coconut Crisps
1/2 Pomegranate
1/2 Kiwi
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
Directions:
In a blender, mix your spinach, 3/4 of the banana, strawberries, 3/4 of the blueberries, avocado, greek yogurt, and almond milk. Add extra almond milk or water as needed to reach the desired consistency. Blend until all ingredients are well incorporated, then pour into a shallow bowl. I then placed my bowl of smoothie in the freezer while I worked on chopping the next ingredients. (You will probably have enough smoothie to go around. So place the leftovers in an airtight container for the next day or share with a friend.) Remove the pomegranate seeds, peel and slice the kiwi, and shave the chocolate. Remove your smoothie bowl from the freezer and top it with the leftover blueberries and banana, pomegranate seeds, kiwi, coconut crisps, chia seeds, and finish by sprinkling on your chocolate shavings.
Now you'll be rocking healthy and glowing skin all year long, thanks to this antioxidant rich smoothie bowl recipe! Remember that your skin is a reflection of what's inside, so a beautiful complexion is evidence of strong and healthy insides shining through on the outside.
