Soft Blues and Warm Browns for Fall
Blue is not typically a color I wear (outside of jeans) and I wouldn’t say it’s a prominent Autumn shade. However, as the season approached, and I was on the hunt for a few new pieces, I couldn’t help but picture a soft grey-blue outfit paired with warm browns. Of course, this look could be worn in almost any season, but something about it felt like the perfect way to welcome the shift in seasons.
This blouse is from Olive Clothing, which is one of my favorite places to shop. However, almost all of their pieces are one size, which means sometimes they fit perfectly and sometimes I need them tailored. This blouse is one I had to have altered, and my tailor did an amazing job (as she always does). We shortened and reduced the volume on the sleeves as well as added some darts to the back of the bodice to give it a better fit around the body.
As a petite, finding clothing that fits right off the rack is not an easy task. But having a tailor I trust has made a huge difference in how I shop. I try to shop more sustainably, these days, and know that when I bring an item into my home, I want it to be something I can wear forever. Getting things tailored not only makes things look better but helps me feel better in them, which means I will hang onto them longer and get much more for my money.
