Vashon Island, Washington // Honeymoon Road Trip Pt. 2
Our first stop in Washington was Vashon Island, located in the beautiful Puget Sound! We didn’t know much about the area, but figured it was a small enough island that we could figure it out as we went. We began by driving around to the Point Robinson Lighthouse, and spending some time along the bay. It was a gorgeous area with a perfect view of Mt Rainier, across the water. After walking around the beach for a bit, it was time for some much needed lunch, as we were both starting to feel a little bit hangry... We stopped at The Hardware Store, where we both had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which was amazing! (I highly recommend the sweet potato fries with their red pepper aioli. It’s so good.)
After lunch, we made our way over to our accommodations for the night—The Lodges on Vashon. Out of all of our honeymoon lodgings, this was one of the nicest and most comfortable! The lodges sit just a short walk from downtown Vashon, and offer a few community spaces as well as have a few businesses on the property, including a hair salon! The guest spaces are made from tiny homes, and inside you’ll find the most comfortable beds with blackout curtains, a kitchenette, lounging areas, and my favorite part—the indoor/outdoor shower! I definitely slept well, this night.
After getting settled in and relaxing for a bit, we went back out to explore the island some more. We stopped to see the Bicycle Tree (Which is a tree that has grown around an old bike. It’s almost completely consumed at this point!) as well as take a walk down a nature trail we had spotted earlier. The area was so beautiful, we couldn’t help but stay out until dark.
The next morning, we packed up and made our way to the ferry. While it was so hard to leave The Lodges and the beautiful island, we were definitely excited for what was to come!
