Great Ocean Road // Road Tripping Australia Pt. 3

Read Pt. 1 // Pt. 2

The next part of my family's Australian adventure was probably the portion we were all looking forward to, the most! We began our day with lunch at the Paradise Picnic Preserve, a beautiful spot located in the rainforest, then piled in the cars for the long drive out to see The Twelve Apostles. There's just not much better than spending a day along the sea, especially when it includes some amazing, natural formations.

From The Grotto to The London Bridge, everywhere we turned along The Great Ocean Road was absolutely stunning. Most places didn't lend themselves to swimming, but The Loch Ard Gorge would have been the most beautiful swimming spot, had we come prepared with our suits... Next time.

Just as the sun was setting, it suddenly hit us that our first stop, The Gibson Steps, would be the perfect place to play until dark. Of course, we were on the other end of the park at that time, but that wasn't going to stop us. We jumped in the cars, and quickly (yet, safely and legally) drove back to the Gibson Steps, rushed down the many stairs to the beach, and made it just in time to play in the water as the sun set beautifully on the horizon. My nieces and nephews all ended up getting quite wet, especially the youngest who exclaimed "I'm all wet, and I'm happy about it!"

We had a long drive back to our Airbnb*, located in Apollo Bay, which was spent telling stories (some true and some made up on the spot), and giggling until our cheeks hurt. Then it was off to bed to rest up for what was sure to be another fun-filled day to follow.
