The Wild Horses of Utah Pt. 2
Last Spring, my dad, his friend, and myself drove out into the middle of nowhere, to see if we could find and photograph some of the wild horses. We did find them, and the photos ended up being some of my favorite that I’ve ever taken! (view them HERE) I had just started dating my now fiancé at the time, and had invited him to come along. However, he was a little hesitant about spending the whole day with my dad, whom he’d never met, and didn’t want to miss any work. Fast forward to a year later, we’re engaged and he loves my dad, so we decided it was time we took him out to see the wild horses, too.
So early on a Saturday morning, we packed up my dad’s truck, and drove back out, to the middle of nowhere. The horses roam freely, so you never know where you’ll find them. You just have to drive around and keep a sharp eye!
On last year’s trip, it took us a while to finally spot them. This year, however, we found them fairly quickly, and this particular herd was more than double the size of the herd we saw the year prior. We got out of the truck, to start snapping photos, keeping our distance, so as not to disturb them. But just like last year, these horses are a curious bunch, and a few quickly came over to check us out. They were mostly interested in Steve’s (my fiancé’s) backpack, but it was such a treat to have them so close… Even if I was super nervous.
Once again, it was a magical experience and the photos are some of my favorites! I also put a YouTube video together so we can always look back on it with fond memories. (video at the bottom of this post)
Remember: All of my photos are available for print! I have a few listed in my Etsy shop, but if you ever see a particular photo you would love to have, just email me! Prints are $20 each or 3 for $50.
